Auraiya: Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday, in connection with the Auraiya road accident case, suspended eight police personnel for their alleged negligence of duty.
Twenty-four migrants were killed and several others were injured after the truck they were travelling in collided with another one in Uttar Pradesh’s Auriya district on Saturday.
Sub Inspector Ram Jeet Singh and Constable Punu Lal, Shivpal, Vijay Singh, Praveen Kumar, Shekhar Siddharth, Anshu who were on duty at Anant Ram Toll Plaza on NH 2 highway where the accident took place which comes under the Ajitmal police station were suspended by Superintendent of Police due to the negligence during duty.
The case was being investigated by Additional Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Dixit.
Earlier, it was reported that two station house officers were suspended after the accident.
“Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath on Saturday directed that SHOs of two police stations located in state’s border area be suspended and stern warning be issued to the circle officers concerned,” Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said.
“One of the border districts is Agra.” Clarifications have also been sought from senior officers in Agra and Mathura, and Adityanath has issued instructions that nobody should travel in unsafe vehicles such as trucks.
