Lucknow: As pollution level in different states of the country on the rise, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to impose the odd-even rule in his state.
The rule will be implied in those cities of the state where the pollution level is comparatively higher than other cities.
In an interview with ETV Bharat, the state Minister of Forest and Environment, Dara Singh Chauhan spoke about the implementation of the rule.
"Within the next two-to-three days, we will apply the rule in cities with high air pollution level," he said.
"The decision was taken in a recent meeting held with CM Yogi," the minister added.
Speaking about the causes of pollution in the state, he said, "We have been constantly working on remedies for pollution, but the burning of stubble is contributing to an increase in the pollution levels."
"Concerned departments are investigating more possible causes of this health hazard. We have also instructed officials to take care of industrial plants in and around Lucknow and have ordered to pause any construction work going on in the city," he added.
He further said, "A man near Gomti Nagar railway station has been fined rupees two lakh for burning stubble in the area."
The minister urged the people to cooperate with the government in their attempt to control and decrease the pollution in the state.
He said that he is hopeful that the Odd-even rule will prove to be beneficial for Uttar Pradesh.
