Pilibhit (Uttar Pradesh): Nepal illegally started road construction on no man's land along the Indo-Nepal border, adjacent to Pilibhit district in Uttar Pradesh, which stirred up all the top officials including Pilibhit District Collector Vaibhav Srivastava to reach the spot and stop the road construction.
The Indo-Nepal issue is hitting the headlines these days as Nepal illegally inaugurated four border posts along borders adjoining Uttarakhand.
Uttar Pradesh shares a 105 km long border with Nepal in Kheri district besides other six districts including Pilibhit, Shravasti, Bahriach, Balrampur, Siddhrthnagar and Maharajganj.
Meanwhile, Pilibhit DM said, "We came here on the information that Nepal is doing some construction on no man's land but Nepal side assured us that no construction activity will take place on no man's land. Further, construction of border pillars which both survey teams identified will be completed soon."
Tensions between India and Nepal started ever since Nepal's parliament passed a new map which shows part of India in the Lipulekh-Kalapani area as Nepalese territory.

After the Nepali Parliament passed a new map of the country showing areas of Indian territory as its own, Nepali citizens have started occupying areas on no man’s land along the border in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Terai region in UP.
Though India rejected Nepal’s new map calling it a "unilateral act" that is not based on historical facts or evidence, the passage of new map by Nepal Parliament signals the hardening of Nepal's position over a decades-long border row.
Pertinent to mention, no man's land lies between India and Nepal where no construction activity of any kind is allowed.
