Prayagraj: Jagatguru Sankaracharya Swami Omkaranand Saraswati of Prayagpeeth on Thursday questioned the administration of the Yogi Adityanath government and their investigation in the suicide case of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad President, Mahant Narendra Giri.
Addressing the media in Delhi, Sant Omkaranand Saraswati said that "The so-called suicide letter is the first suspicious thing in the death of Narendra Giri as he never used to write much. Narendra used to only sign. Secondly, if the letter was recovered from his room, then why it has not been sent for forensic examination till now. Why it was given to the media."
Speaking over the relationship of Narendra Giri with a woman, Omkaranand Saraswati said that "if the Mahant had something to hide or if there was any vice in him, he wouldn't have mentioned it in the letter before he died. There is some big conspiracy behind all this-like where did the letter come from. It should be thoroughly probed."
Omkaranand also raised questions over the investigation process and said "Why there was no photograph or video of the process when Narendra's body was removed from the noose." He later asked, "where was the security provided to him and why they didn't stop seers from touching his body. Truth should come out soon."

Objecting to the BJP leader's statement that religious Maths and temples should be brought under the law, Shankaracharya said that "the BJP leader should take back his words and apologize to the Sant Samaj. Can the BJP leader talk of bringing a mosque or a church under the ambit of the law?"
"26 years ago, Baldev Giri, the master of Narendra Giri had also died under suspicious circumstances and the reason for his death is still not been ascertained. After that, another disciple was killed in similar manner and the reason for his death is still a mystery," said Omkaranand.
Mahant Narendra Giri, president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Prayagraj on September 20.
