UP: Minor's body exhumed 50 days after burial

The 5-year-old child was electrocuted on June 29 while he was fetching water using an electric pump in the village. The village administration officials hurriedly buried the body, despite objections from the boy's family.

Sant Kabir Nagar (Uttar Pradesh): The body of a 5-year-old boy was exhumed from the grave in Uttar Pradesh's Bhatapar village on the District Magistrate (DM)'s order on Wednesday.

The child was electrocuted on June 29 while he was fetching drinking water from a water pump in the village.

At the time of the incident, the District Development Officer (DDO) was also present in the village for inspection. Soon after getting the information, the villagers along with the DDO rushed the boy to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The village administration including Gram Pradhan hurriedly buried the body, despite objections from the boy's father. It is speculated that they wanted to avoid any investigation into the matter.

The father of the deceased but subsequently wrote letters to the DM requesting an inquiry, holding the Gram Pradhan and administration guilty of the murder of his son and denying him a proper burial.

As a response, the DM ordered exhumation of the boy's body from the grave to ensure proper investigation into his death.
