Mathura court to hear plea regarding Krishna Janmabhoomi case today

A Mathura court will hear on Monday a civil suit seeking ownership of the entire 13.37 acres of Krishna Janmabhoomi land and removal of the mosque situated adjacent to Krishna Janmabhoomi.

Mathura (UP): Mathura district court will hear the petition seeking the removal of a mosque near a temple which the devouts believe marks the birthplace of Lord Krishna on Monday.

Earlier it was fixed January 15 as the next date for hearing but the matter was adjourned as district judge was not available on that day.

The hearing of the petition filed in the court of the district's Senior Civil Judge will proceed after 11 am regarding the ownership of Shri Krishna birthplace.

The petition was filed on September 25 to reclaim 13.37-acre land allegedly belonging to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi. The petitioners have demanded the removal of the illegally built royal Idgah mosque in the premises.

On September 25, five advocates including Supreme Court lawyers Harishankar Jain, Vishnu Shankar Jain and Ranjana Agnihotri had filed a petition in the court regarding the ownership of Sri Krishna’s birthplace.

On 21 February 1951, Shri Krishna Janma Bhoomi Trust was established. In 1968, Sri Krishna Janmasthana Seva Sansthan and Shahi Idgah Management Committee negotiated and reached on a mutual agreement to settle the dispute to the effect that the mosque would remain on the land it was constructed.
