Havildar Dipak Karki killed in ceasefire violation cremated with full state honours in Uttar Pradesh

The body of martyr Dipak Karki was cremated with full state honours at Rajghat in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district. He was a resident of Bhutwal in Nepal and attained martyrdom while responding to an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the LoC in Nowshera sector in Jammu & Kashmir.

Gorakhpur (UP): Havildar Dipak Karki of Gorkha Regiment was cremated on Tuesday evening at Rajghat in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur amid full state honours. He was a resident of Bhutwal in Nepal.

Karki had attained martyrdom while responding to an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri in Jammu & Kashmir. The soldier’s body was brought to Gorakhpur by air.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Gorkha Regiment soldier Naib Subedar Jogendra said that the Pakistani Army has made it a habit to indulge in the unprovoked ceasefire violation.

"Kurki was a very brave soldier. I got a call from his unit saying that he is injured but after some time, I was told that he succumbed to his injuries. Thereafter, I informed all acquaintances and relatives. Today, we have come here to attend his last rites," he said.

Jogendra further said that the government should make some policy so that least number of soldiers are killed at the border.

It is to be noted that Kurki is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. His nine relatives including wife and children were present at his funeral.
