Married couple shot at in Rampur of UP

A young married couple was shot at by the girl's family members as they were not happy with her decision to marry against their wishes. The girl and her husband are being treated in a hospital even as police investigate the matter.

Rampur: A couple, who married against the wishes of their families, was shot at by the relatives of the girl, police said.

The incident took place in Saidnagar of Tanda police station area.

The couple was immediately rushed to the district hospital from where it was referred to another hospital for better treatment facilities.

The girl told the police that her father and brother shot at them. She said that she was being harassed ever since she informed her family about their relationship and the desire to get married to each other.

She informed the police that they had to get married in a court against the wishes of their families as they were not agreeing to the proposal.

Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh told ETV Bharta that a case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is on.
