Man shot dead in Greater Noida over gambling dispute

A gambling dispute led to a fatal shooting as a man was killed by some unidentified miscreants after spat over a card game in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida on Saturday late night.

Greater Noida: A man was shot dead at Doob area under Bisrakh police limits in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, police said on Sunday.

The deceased person, Subey Yadav of Sarafa Bazar had a dispute with some people overrunning a gambling racket in the area.

According to police, the incident happened yesterday late at night when Yadav had gone to the gambling den in Bisrakh area. Due to the past conflict with the people in the gambling den he had some verbal duel with them.

Following this, the matter took an ugly turn and some miscreants shot him multiple times after the spat.

Police said that he used to be part of a group that ran a gambling racket, but had fallen out with them. The body has been seized and sent to a local hospital for post-mortem.

"No arrests were made, and we are looking for people in connection with the killing. Prima facie it appears that they were gambling while playing cards and at some point, they had some dispute which made the verbal spat ugly and it ended up with a murder," said Harish Chandra, DCP, central zone.
