Hapur (Uttar Pradesh): A man was critically injured when he was shot at by unidentified miscreants at Pilkhuwa area under Kotwali police limits in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur on late Thursday night.
The victim, identified as Deepak Tomar, brother of BJP leader Sushil Tomar, was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
According to sources, two bike-borne miscreants shot at Deepak and fled from the spot. Hearing Deepak's screams after bullet shots, some locals rushed to the spot to help him.
The victim sustained bullet injuries on his right hand and stomach. He was immediately admitted to The Hapur DHH, sources said.
On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe, sources said.
Though the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the firing was a fallout of political rivalry.
Police have started an investigation into the incident and police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants who are on the run, sources added.
