Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday recovered huge quantities of spurious liquor worth Rs 75 lakh and raw material in raids conducted on the outskirts of the state capital.
According to the reports, the raid was conducted by DCP Charu Nigam in which two out of ten people were arrested. "Acting on a tip-off, we have conducted a raid under Chinhar police limits. We have arrested two people during the raid."
She further said that eight people were absconded from the raid spot including the main accused Aditya. "We are investigating the matter and those absconded from the spot would be under arrest", added Nigam.
The seizure had come amid state-wide efforts by the UP Police, under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to check illicit liquor trading, as well as smuggling of liquor from across the state's borders.
The state government on Friday had issued orders for the re-opening of clubs and bars outside the containment zones in the state, with the condition that the establishments will have to operate according to the COVID guidelines of the state and Central governments.
