Kaushambi: In view of the Uttar Pradesh civic polls, the police and administration are on high alert with a massive search operation being launched to nab all criminals including absconding wife of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed, Shaista Parveen, who is on the run for the last two months. Police have asked people not to give shelter to criminals and warned of strict action against people who disobey the law.
On Friday morning, Circle Officer (CO) along with the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) undertook a search operation in Fakirabad village of Sarai Akil area for Shaista, who has a bounty of Rs 50,000 on her head. Police and ITBP jawans visited the village and conducted door-to-door searches. They warned villagers against giving shelter to criminals who come from outside. Police also said that if anyone is found helping criminals then he will face strict action.
It may be mentioned here that Sarai Akil is the same place where Atiq's shooter Kavi lived. In an earlier action, many associates of Atiq and Kavi were nabbed and sent to jail. Police have also raided and seized illegal arms manufacturing factories in Sarai Akil and two other places. Many people were also arrested in this connection, police said.

CO Chayal Yogendra Krishna Narayan asked people not to hoard illegal weapons in their homes. Additional Superintendent of Police Kaushambi, Samar Bahadur said that CO Chayal along with ITBP jawans have conducted search operation in all the houses. A strict warning has also been issued to the people, he said. "The entire initiative is aimed at ensuring peace during the elections. We are looking for all criminals who can disturb peace during elections. The search for Shaista Parveen is already on," he said.
