Deoria (Uttar Pradesh): Even after the Prime Minister's appeal to respect COVID-19 warriors, things do not seem to be on the right track.
A doctor in charge of the quarantine centre at the Deoria district hospital in Uttar Pradesh was beaten up by his landlord, accusing him of spreading Coronavirus.
The doctor alleged that the landlord was already pressurizing them to vacate the room.
Dr Rajiv Ranjan was living in the house of Dilip Paswan in Ramnath Deoria area from over one year.
On Monday night, the landlord went to his room with a few other neighbours and forced him to vacate the room. When the doctor opposed it, they started beating him, the doctor informed.
The doctor alleged that the landlord and the people accompanying him accused him of spreading coronavirus.
The police have arrested Dilip Paswan, husband of councillor Nanhe Paswan, and three others.
A case has been registered against them under the Pandemic Act 1897.
While talking to the reporters, police said, "We will take strict action. Indecent conduct towards Corona warriors will not be tolerated."
