Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): A Varanasi court will on Thursday likely pronounce its order on a revision petition pertaining to the Kashi temple-Gyanvapi mosque matter.

Earlier on October 20, the court had reserved its verdict till October 22, and is likely to pronounce its verdict on the revision petition filed by the Sunni Central Waqf Board today afternoon.

The Waqf Board wants the case to be run in Waqf Tribunal Lucknow instead of Civil Judge Senior Court.

During the previous hearing, Advocate Vijay Shankar Rastogi, representing Swayambhu Jyotirlinga Bhagwan Vishweshwar had argued that the order of the civil judge was interim, and hence a revision petition could not be filed.

Sunni Waqf Board's advocate Tauhid Khan countered the above, saying that the order of the civil judge was final and hence a revision petition would be maintainable and admissible.

Earlier in December 2019, Rastogi had filed an application on behalf of Swayambhu Jyotirlinga Bhagwan Vishweshwar in the court of the civil judge, requesting for survey of the entire Gyanvapi compound by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
