Kargil war hero participates in KBC, donates entire winning amount

Subedar Major Yogendra Yadav, who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his heroics during the Kargil War, participated in the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati. He won Rs 25 lakh on the show, which he donated to the Indian Army's welfare fund.

Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh): Kargil War Hero Subedar Major Yogendra Yadav, who was decorated with the Param Vir Chakra, the highest Indian military honour decoration, participated in the popular quiz game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) hosted by prominent actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Yogendra Singh Yadav, who was born in the village Aurangabad Ahir in Bulandshahr District of Uttar Pradesh, had joined the Indian Army at the age of 16 years and five months.

Yadav received the Param Vir Chakra for his heroics during the Kargil War, where he ensured that his platoon succeeded in capturing Tiger Hill. Despite being hit by as many as 16 bullets during the battle, Yadav heroically continued charging ahead and killed multiple enemy soldiers.

Yadav is among the extremely few soldiers to have received the award alive and not posthumously.

The Kargil War hero recently participated in the quiz game show Kaun Banega Crorepati as a special guest.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Yadav said that the show's host, actor Amitabh Bachchan spoke to him about the challenges he faced during the Kargil War.

The war hero said that he won a sum of Rs 25 lakh on the show, which he donated to the Indian Army's welfare fund. He added that he had a good experience on the show and that he felt proud that he could do something for the forces through his participation.

Yadav said the episode will be aired on January 22.
