Journalists demand martyr status for colleague Vikram Joshi

Journalists in Uttar Pradesh have demanded martyr status for the slain journalist Vikram Joshi, who was shot in the head by some assailants earlier this week. They formed a social media group, demanding justice for the deceased.

Ghaziabad: The media fraternity in Uttar Pradesh on Friday formed a group on social media in the name of late journalist Vikram Joshi, who was shot in the head by some assailants earlier this week.

The whole incident was captured in the CCTV camera.

Joshi later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital after the veins in the journalist's head had got badly damaged due to the bullet injury.

The journalists demanded martyr status to their colleague and also pressed for a martyr gate to be built in Vijay Nagar in the name of the deceased journalist.

They said that further strategy regarding the same will be worked out in due course of time.

Nine people have been arrested so far including two main accused, Ravi and Chotu.

A station in-charge was suspended after the family of the journalist alleged inaction by police.
