Jhansi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Prahlad Modi, who is busy spreading awareness about the central government's welfare works and programmes, has clarified that he is not into "active politics" as many would tend to believe, but he just works as an "ordinary party worker of the BJP".
Interacting with the media persons here at circuit house, he also distanced himself from the Prime Minister, saying he runs an independent movement and gets inspiration from the BJP.
"I am not a follower of Narendra Modi. We work independently and our inspiration is BJP," he said, clearly distancing himself from the Prime Minister, who is known to have minimal relationship with his family members.
"Ours is an independent movement. Government schemes are reaching the common man but there are some issues also," he said, adding that he would discuss the same with officials concerned.
On being asked if he plans to contest elections, the Prime Minister's brother said he has not given a thought to it.
Prahalad Modi also made it clear that Prime Minister has not asked him to do what he is doing.
"Had he asked me do the work that I do, he would have provided me a good car," he said, adding that he has to travel in someone else's car.
