Hamirpur (Uttar Pradesh): Flood victims in Hamirpur of Uttar Pradesh were allegedly provided stale food in the name of relief.

Hamirpur flood victims raged over good food

Flooding damaged most of the establishments in Hamirpur with kutcha houses completely coming apart.

The district administration set up a relief camp at a college in Hamirpur where arrangements were made to provide food, medicines and shelter to flood-affected people.

According to recent reports, arrangements were not proper as the food stocks which had been supplied are mostly rotten and to save themselves from hunger the victims were forced to eat the food.

When the issue was raised before District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash, he simply denied the allegation and asked to prove the same.

A flood victim, Ramkali of Kuchecha village said, " My kutcha house is completely flooded, district administration gave us shelter but the food they are providing us is not appropriate and sufficient".

Another victim Shankar has also stated same by adding that he along with his family are compelled to reside in an open area of the safe house.

Eight to ten feet of water entered Old Betwa area and other nearby low-lying places. Due to flood, power and drinking water is also not available.

Both Betwa and Yamuna are flowing around three metre above the danger mark. The flood situation in the district is likely to worsen if more water is released from the dams.
