New Delhi: An elderly man was brutally thrashed by few miscreants who also chopped off his beard in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, purported videos surfacing online showed on Monday. According to police, the incident which took place near the Loni border area is an old one and one arrest has already been made in the case. The video, which is viral on social media recently, shows that some auto-rickshaw drivers brutally thrashed the elderly man at an isolated location and chopped off his beard with scissors.
“It was brought to our notice that a video is doing rounds on social media in which an elderly man was assaulted. An FIR in connection with the incident has already been filed and one main accused has already been arrested. We are questioning the local residents in the area and required steps were being taken,” said Atul Kumar Sonkar, CO Loni. Netizens have flooded social media platforms with comments and appeals seeking justice against the assault and strict actions against the accused while terming the incident as shocking and embarrassing.
