Lucknow: Former West Bengal Governor and BJP leader Kesarinath Tripathi has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of PGI on Friday after he suffered from breathing difficulties.

The former governor was tested positive for COVID-19 two days ago. After the report was positive, he was lodged in isolation at his residence in Prayagraj.

871 new infection cases in Uttar Pradesh, recovery rate 96.2%

There were 871 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. 1263 people left the hospital on Friday. There are a total of 13,823 active cases in Uttar Pradesh and the recovery rate is 96.21%.

73 new cases found in Lucknow

73 new COVID-19 infection cases have been found in the state capital. Two COVID patients from Prayagraj and Ballia died on Friday. Both patients were undergoing treatment in Lucknow.

Preparations for COVID-19 vaccine's dry run have started in Uttar Pradesh. Coronavirus vaccine store centers have been set up in each district. On Saturday, dry run will be done in six hospitals in Lucknow. On January 5, dry run will be done at five places in all districts of Uttar Pradesh.

28-day quarantine

COVID-19 infected returnees from the UK back will be quarantined for 28 days. Home isolation facility will not be provided to them. Director of General Health department Devendra Negi said that 28-day quarantine is imposed is to prevent the spreading of the new variants of the virus.
