Lucknow: The name of former Jaunpur MP Dhananjay Singh has cropped up in the Ajit Singh murder case for allegedly helping the shooters in their treatment.
On Monday, Dr. AK Singh of Sultanpur, who was treating the injured shooter in the gang war, told the police that Dhananjay had called him and told him that the injured is impaled with a rod and needs immediate treatment.
He added that he wasn't aware at that time that the injured was a criminal and he only treated him following his duty as a doctor.
The police kept talking to Dr. Singh for 5 hours during which he revealed all this information.
On 6 January, former block chief Ajit Singh was shot dead in Gangwar at the Kathuta intersection of Vibhuti Khand police station. Four shooters were involved in this attack in which a shooter was shot.
The shooter was first treated by a private doctor in the capital at the behest of Dhananjay Singh but was taken to Sultanpur after his condition did not improve.

While the names of jailed mafia Kuntu Singh, Akhand Singh, and shooter Girdhari were registered in the murder case of former block chief Ajit Singh, it was also said that Ajit Singh was the shooter of the Mukhtar Ansari gang alleging the involvement of many more people in this murder.
The police are now preparing to call the former MP Singh for questioning.
A total of four shooters were involved in this murder including Girdhari Vishwakarma. There was a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Girdhari who was arrested by Delhi Police.
The remaining 3 shooters are still absconding.
