Five held for duping people in Uttar Pradesh

UP police have held five members of an inter-state gang of cheaters, who would dupe people on the promise of getting them jobs in the Indian Army. They would charge lakhs of rupees for preparing fake applications and other documents. Further probe is on in the matter.

Farrukhabad: Five members of an inter-state gang, which would cheat people on the promise of getting them jobs, have been arrested while one managed to escape, police said.

A police official said that one Jandail Singh informed the police that four-five people, who generally operate from a car, would ask for rupees eight lakh per applicant for a job in the Indian Army. They charge rupees ten thousand extra for preparing documents of the applicants.

Acting on the tip-off, the police officials formed teams and the moment they came to know about the gang's presence, they raided the area and held five of them.

The arrested have been identified as Bhagesh, Ajit alias Lucky, Rohit alias Guddu, Akshay Kumar, and Madan Singh Rajput. A laptop computer, six mobile phones and fake documents have also been confiscated from them, the police said.

Further probe is on, they added.
