Hathras (Uttar Pradesh): At least five people died after consuming country-made liquor in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras on Wednesday, police said.
Several others were admitted to the hospital where the condition of seven people is said to be critical.
The tragedy took place on Tuesday in the Nagla Prahlada and Nagla Singhi area of Hathras. The people in the area had gathered to worship a local deity and consumed the liquor during the time.
Ramhari, a local liquor supplier, has been arrested, police said.
Three bodies were sent for postmortem as the cause of death was not clear.
The police also said that whether the alcohol was adulterated or poisonous will be known only after the investigation.
