Lucknow: The CBI on Friday registered two FIRs against Waseem Rizvi, former chairman of the Shia Central Waqf Board in a case related to fraudulent sale, purchase and transfer of properties by the statutory body.
The Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI registered FIRs under Sections 409, 420 and 506 of the IPC against Rizvi, Shia Waqf Board Administrative Officer Ghulam Hyder Rizvi, Waqf Inspector Waqar Raza, Naresh Krishna Somani and Vijay Krishna Somani.

In October 2019, Additional Chief Secretary Griha Kumar Awasthi, on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government requested the Crime Branch through a letter to take action in the FIR lodged in the Prayagraj police station in 2016 and FIR registered in Hazratganj police station in Lucknow in 2017 against the Shia Central Waqf Board and UP Sunni Central Waqf Board irregularly buying and selling land.
