Family members of martyr Dharmadev refuse to perform last rites

Family members of martyr Dharmadev have refused to perform the last rites of the deceased soldier. Family members say that the body will be cremated only after the arrival of the CM or Defence Minister.

Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh): The mortal remains of martyr Dharmadev, a Thekhan village resident reached the CRPF Camp in Dulipur on Monday night. Thousands of people reached the village to pay their tributes to the martyr on Tuesday with a convoy of hundreds of vehicles.

Meanwhile, the martyr's father Ramashray Gupta and younger brother CRPF jawan Dhananjay have refused to perform the last rites of the deceased soldier. The villagers also stand united with the decision of their relatives. Family members say that the body will be cremated only after the arrival of the CM or Defense Minister.

The family of martyr Dharmadev are hurt that no representative or minister of the ruling party came to the village, despite Chandauli being the home district of Union Defence Minister Rajanath Singh. Martyr's brother Dhananjay says that there are two cabinet ministers from Chandauli, one is a minister in the central government, but no minister came to the village to pay tribute. The body will not be taken for cremation until the CM or the Defence Minister come to the village.

Ramashray Gupta, the father of the jawan spoke on the phone with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who assured of all possible help. However, the Union Minister said that he would not be able to visit the village as he is extremely busy and that he would speak with UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and ensure that a competent minister, as the CM's representative would attend the martyr's last rites.

The entire village has backed the demand made by the martyr's family. They said that the UP CM should visit and pay tribute to the deceased soldier. Otherwise, the last rites will not be performed at any cost even though the entire village is rained with bullets.
