Dubey remained in Kanpur for two days after killing policemen

After dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey was arrested, it was learnt that he stayed in Kanpur dehat area for two days after killing eight policemen who had gone to arrest him on Friday last. It is being investigated how could he along with his associates cross borders when everyone one was alerted.

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh's dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey, who was on the run after killing eight policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, in Bikru village in the Chaubeypur area of Kanpur last week, was hiding in Shivli are of Kanpur dehat for two days after the incident, official source said.

One of the arrested associates of Dubey told police that Dubey was hiding in Kanpur dehat for two days after the ambush that took place on Friday last when the police team went to arrest him and fell to bullets fired from rooftops.

The arrested gang member told the police that Dubey and two others reached Shivli on bicycles and stayed at a friend's place for the next two days. Later, two of them left for Lucknow on a bike, and Dubey along with Amar left in a truck for Haryana and reached Faridabad.

Kanpur police is investigating how the criminals could cross borders when everyone concerned was alerted right after the incident.

Dubey was arrested on Thursday from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, while five of his associates have been killed in police encounters since the Kanpur ambush.

Amar Dubey was killed in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur on Wednesday, while Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey were gunned down in an encounter

in Kanpur on July 3.
