Sitapur (UP): A youth allegedly hacked his father to death over a family feud at Khubpur village under Ramkot police limits in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Ram Singh, 62, a retired police constable of the same locality, while the assailant was his son, Vinay Singh.
According to sources, an argument ensued between Ram and his son, Vinay, over some petty issue. The situation took an ugly turn after Vinay, in a fit of rage, attacked his father with a sharp weapon resulting in his death on the spot.
On being informed about the incident, Ramkot police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident, sources said.
"Vinay was an alcoholic and under the influence of liquor, he used to misbehave with his father. Vinay was rude to Ram and often used filthy language against him over money matter," said Madhuban Kumar Singh, Additional SP, Sitapur.
"On Thursday morning, Vinay consumed liquor and the father-son duo had an argument over some petty issues. In a fit of rage, Vinay attacked him on the neck with a sickle, killing him on the spot," Madhuban Kumar added.
The body was seized and sent for post-mortem. Police have reportedly detained Vinay for further investigation into the matter, sources added.
