Maharajganj (Uttar Pradesh): In a major breakthrough, the officials of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) or border guards and the police arrested a man on the Indian side of the border with Nepal for carrying banned drugs.
Mohammed Intakam was moving around in a suspicious manner when he was intercepted at Sonauli in Maharrajgang district in Uttar Pradesh. Reports said the drugs he was carrying was worth one crore rupees.
SSB and police were patrolling the India-Nepal border when a suspicious man was heading from India to Nepal near the Shyamkat garden, Assistant Superintendent of Police Nivesh Katiyar said.
The police caught him when he tried to flee and seized 107 grams of heroin from him.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the man and he was sent to jail.
Further investigation is underway.
