New Delhi: Shabishta Khan, wife of Dr Kafeel Khan, who was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) for allegedly making inflammatory statements at the Aligarh Muslim University during the anti-CAA protests in December last year, on Monday demanded the release of her husband, claiming that his speeches were not inflammatory.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Shabishta said, "Dr Kafeel Khan was given a clean chit by the Allahabad High Court and Uttar Pradesh government in the Gorakhpur BRD Medical College tragedy."
She alleged that her husband was being tortured by the Uttar Pradesh government since the tragedy in August 2017, as in his public meetings, Kafeel Khan always questions the government for not finding the actual culprits behind the death of 70 infants and 18 adults due to oxygen shortage.
However, in October last year, Rajnish Dubey, UP Principal Secretary Medical Education had said that Dr Kafeel Khan has not been given a clean chit by the state government and a probe is still underway against him.
