Ghaziabad: After 25 people lost their lives and 20 people were grievously injured in the Muradnagar roof collapse incident, relatives of the dead and locals blocked the National Highway-58 demanding satisfactory action by the government and higher relief assistance.
The relatives of the deceased placed the bodies on the highway, creating a jam on the road, and said they won't believe the words of the authorities until they receive a digitalized assurance letter from the office of the Prime Minister or Chief Minister.
They also demanded increasing the compensation amount from Rs two lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs.
After a few officials visited the spot and spoke to the protestors, one family agreed to remove the body from the road.
However, another family refused to budge and placed all four dead bodies back on the road.
In the incident, some dead were sole bread earners and their death has done an irreparable loss to the family, that's why locals demand that the government helps the victim families to survive by increasing compensation amount.
