Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh): A video showed two people—one person in PPE kit and another unidentified individual—trying to dump a wrapped dead body into Rapti river from atop a bridge. It is believed that the video was shot on the Sisai Ghat bridge in Kotwali Nagar.
The video was shot by a passerby. Although the video is not conclusively featuring the duo dumping the body into the river, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Balrampur, Dr. Vijay Bahadur Singh said that an FIR has been lodged against them.

Dr. Singh said the body was of Prem Nath Mishra, a resident of Shohratgarh in Siddharthnagar district. He was admitted to L-2 hospital on 25 May due to COVID-19 infection.
He died during treatment on 28 May.

The CMO added that the body was handed over to the family by observing COVID19 protocol. The CMO said that the viral video shows the body being thrown into the Rapti river.
The police are investigating the case.
