Shamli (UP): Despite repetitive warnings to maintain social distance amid coronavirus outbreak, over 15 people gathered to offer Namaz in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli.
They offered prayers collectively on a veranda. The incident was captured on a camera.
"During this period any type of social gathering is prohibited. We are creating awareness among the people as to why maintaining social distance important in order to combat the coronavirus outbreak," said Vineet Jaiswal, SP Shamli.
"Despite all the awareness, an incident came to light from Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district wherein a group of people offered namaz collectively. The act was captured in a camera and video of the same was received by our police cell," SP added.
"Acting on the complaint, a case was registered against 15 people who were visible in the video offering namaz. 10 out of 15 people are in police custody while the remaining four are yet to be identified," he concluded.
