Varanasi (UP): With the entire world on a war footing with the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Ministry of AYUSH has given the permission to the Banaras Hindu University to try its 40-year-old Ayurvedic medicine.
The University had written a letter to the ministry on March 24, seeking permission for the clinical trial of this Ayurvedic medicine.
Speaking on this to ETV Bharat, Professor Yamini Bhushan Tripathi, HOD Ayurved department of BHU, said that this medicine will be in liquid form which is named as 'Shirishadi'.
"We have got the approval of the AYUSH Ministry for the trial. The researchers of Modern Medicine and Ayurveda will soon start a trial on this under the supervision of scientists," he said.
Professor Tripathi further said that after the clinical trial, this medicine will be tried on adult COVID-19 patients admitted to the BHU hospital.
"Evaluation of the medicine will be based on how much and how the effect of the drug is occurring along with the percentage of the recovery. More points will be included in the evaluation and we have to submit the trial reports to the ministry within three months," he added.
Professor Tripathi also said that it seems only Ayurveda can defeat the coronavirus and her team has started the process to win over this disease by mixing Ayurveda with Modern Medicine.
