Ayodhya: Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, head of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust which was set up to oversee the construction of a grand Ram Temple, on Monday said that construction of the much-awaited Ram Temple has begun.
Das, who is also head of the 'Mani Ram Das Ki Chavani', the largest temple in the city, visited the site for the first time in the past 28 years after the demolition of the disputed structure 'Babri Masjid' in December 1992.
Interacting with the media after having 'darshan' of Ramlala and overseeing the ground levelling work at the site, he said the construction of Ram Temple has started and is going fine.
"The construction work has started," he said.

On being asked if the machinery, which was expected to reach the site have also arrived, Das said they would come later.
"It's not a long-work, machinery would come later as the work goes on," he told reporters.
Last week, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust claimed that several broken statues of Hindu gods and goddesses were found at the temple site.
It was reported that a five-foot shivalinga, seven black touchstone pillars, six red sandstone pillars, a "flower pinnacle" and four broken idols of gods and goddesses were found.
The trust posted pictures and videos of the artifacts it said were recovered during the levelling process. Uttar Pradesh government agencies including Public Works Department (PWD) and Power Corporation are involved in the construction process, along with at least one private firm.
