Congress manifesto for UP may get delayed

Congress Manifesto Committee chairman Rashid Alvi said that the committee had submitted the draft document and it was now up to the high command to decide on the same. The decision of Priyanka not contesting elections seems to have dampened Congress' inserted in chalking out the vision document.

Varanasi: After three phases of the election have taken place, the news that AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is not contesting from Varanasi has reportedly led to a delay in bringing out the Congress manifesto for Uttar Pradesh.

Manifesto Committee chairman Rashid Alvi said that the committee has submitted the draft document and it is now up to the high command to decide on the same. The decision of Priyanka not contesting elections seems to have dampened Congress' inserted in chalking out the vision document. it is noteworthy though that Priyanka had listed out few points to be incorporated in the UP manifesto while on tour of the state.

Congress has fielded Ajay Rai as its candidate from Varanasi. Uttar Pradesh sees elections in all seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The counting of the votes will be done on May 23.
