Lucknow: All India Congress Committee (AICC) National Secretary Dheeraj Gurjar on Thursday expressed confidence on Congress party of winning upcoming 2019 general elections in Uttar Pradesh and remarked that the party's main strategy would be to dethrone Bharatiya Janata Party not only from Uttar Pradesh but also from the entire nation, with Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister of the country.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Dheeraj said, "Congress had made tremendous changes in their strategy for Uttar Pradesh with the major one being Priyanka Gandhi plunging into active politics."
"Uttar Pradesh's Lok Sabha seats have been divided into two parts - Eastern UP and Western UP. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has appointed Priyanka Gandhi as general secretary of eastern UP and Western UP will be under Jyotiraditya Scindia," he added.
Former Rajasthan MLA, Gurjar who has been newly appointed as Congress secretary and will fight election from UP said, "Congress never demanded coalition with Samajwadi party or Bahujan Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. With the new team of Congress, they will destroy the rivals."
During the Rajasthan assembly elections, Gurjar played the major role in preventing the entry of chariot of Vasundhara Raje.
