Kannauj: A clash broke out between the supporters of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today at the nomination process for the post of Chairman of the four branches of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Village Development Bank in Gwal Maidan, Kannauj.
The dispute started as some members from both the parties started abusing each other. The argument soon escalated to stone-pelting causing a ruckus in the area.
After police present at the spot tried to intervene, they were also caught amid the stone flinging.
To bring the unruly supporters under control, the police had to lathi-charge the workers.
Soon after the information about the stone pelting reached Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Apoorva Yadav who reached the spot with more police force.
According to SP workers, the BJP workers took away the nomination form thrice from them, which started the whole situation.
