Child dies after falling in pit in Uttar Pradesh's Basti

The child was playing outside and when he did not show up for a long time, the family searched for him and he was found unconscious near the pit.

Basti (Uttar Pradesh): A 5-year-old boy, Anuraj died after falling into a pit dug for toilet in Basti, Uttar Pradesh. According to the family members, the boy was playing outside and the members got busy with their work.

However, after a long time when he did not show up, the family members started searching for him.

Upon searching he was found unconscious in the pit.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Somai Sonkar, a resident of Ramnagar village, had dug a pit of about six feet deep behind the house to construct a toilet. Due to the crater being on the banks of the pond, it was filled with water.
