Noida: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was attacked by members of the accused's extended family in order to help him escape in Sonpur village of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
According to superintendent of police, in an ongoing investigation related to a bribery case in Rs 126 crore Yamuna land scam, the incident occurred when a CBI team comprising of an inspector, sub-inspector, two constables and one woman constable had gone to village Sonpura, in search Sunil Dutt, ASI CBI.
As soon as Dutt's family came to know about the investigation, they forcefully brought the team inside the premises and started beating them.
The accused then fled through the back door, police said.
A case has been registered under the Ecotech 3, Greater Noida police station and investigation is underway.
