Can't win against system which protects criminals: Ghaziabad Cop

After three accused in the murder case of a 29-year-old surrendered, Ghaziabad rural SP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun expressed his disappointment, saying that the police could fight and win against criminals, but not the system which protects and supports them.

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): In an apparent reference to the murder case of a 29-year-old man, Ghaziabad (Rural) Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun on Friday said one could defeat criminals, but not the 'system' which supported them.

In a tweet that raised several eyebrows, Jadaun wrote, "You can fight and win against criminals. You can fight but you can't win against a 'system' that supports and protects criminals. Jadaun's tweet came after the prime accused in the murder case of a 29-year-old man, who was killed in a shooting incident on August 23, surrendered before a district court on August 28.

The incident had taken place on the night of August 17, when the assailants targeted Akshay Sangwan outside his Krishna Kunj Colony residence in Tibra village when he was celebrating his birthday. They had called Sangwan on his phone, asked him to meet them outside the house and fired on him the moment he stepped out.

Sangwan was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Eight people, including Devendra Shivach, the husband of sitting BJP MLA of Modinagar Manju Shivach and the husband of village head of Tibra were booked in a murder conspiracy of Sangwan.

The prime accused, identified as Ashwani, a native Patla town, surrendered before a district court in Ghaziabad.

At the same time, two other accused in the case reportedly surrendered in Delhi for another crime, and were sent to jail in the national capital.

According to reports, the Ghaziabad Police could not even question the three surrendered accused, who could have revealed more important details about the murder conspiracy.

However, after the prime accused had surrendered, Jadaun had reportedly said that the police would take him on remand, adding that the case would be solved after interrogating him.
