UP policeman suspended as rape victim dies

The rape victim from Bulandshahr died during treatment in a Delhi hospital and a Circle Officer in the district was suspended for negligence.

Bulandshahr: Dalit rape victim from Uttar Pradesh's Jahangirabad died on Wednesday during treatment in Delhi after which the body was brought to Siddha Nagla village late last night and was cremated by family members.

Meanwhile, the Bulandshahr police suspended circle officer (CO) Atul Chaubey, who was in charge of the rape case, for negligence.

The victim's family was unhappy with the working style of the CO and the local station in-charge was transferred when the victim was referred to Delhi for treatment.

DM SSP promise all help to the relatives

Before the last rites, the District Magistrate and the SSP promised to provide security to the family members and as per the rules, financial assistance received from the government was also transferred to the account of the family of the deceased.

The victim died during treatment in Delhi after which she was also tested for COVID-19 and the report tested negative.

Police deployed

When the victim's body was brought to the village hundreds of people gathered at the spot to bid adieu. Seeing the unprecedented crowd a large number of police personnel, including SP Crime, SDM Shikarpur, and SDM Anupshahar, were deployed in the village.

Earlier, the victim's family and villagers had given an ultimatum to the police saying if they do not accept the family's demands, the victim's cremation won't be done. But, the officials tried and succeeded in persuading the family.

The administration also transferred an amount of Rs 3,75,000 to the account of the father of the deceased.

Until the last rites were done the ADM administration, SP city also stayed outside the village ensuring the safety of the family and smooth completion of rituals.

PAC was also deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.
