Baghpat: Former BJP district head Sanjay Khokhar was shot dead at his farm in Baghpat when he went out for a morning walk on Tuesday.
As per reports, three unidentified men opened fire at the BJP leader. The incident took place in Chhaprauli area in Baghpat district. A local police team rushed to the spot and recovered Khokhar's blood-soaked body from the fields. The team also examined the circumstances at the site.
A video doing the rounds on social media show the bloodied body of Sanjay Khokhar lying in a narrow alley between the fields as locals and the police look on.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief at the killing and directed the police officials to arrest the culprits within 24 hours.
This is the latest incident in an area that has seen many killings in recent times. Last month, Deshpal Khokhar, a Rashtriya Lok Dal leader was shot dead in the area.
Earlier on Aug 10, the critically injured BJP worker who was shot by militants in Ompora area of central Kashmiri’s Budgam district on Sunday succumbed to injuries at SMHS hospital. According to reports, the man identified as Abdul Hamid Najar, a resident of Ompora, Mehendipora area of Budgam was shot by suspected militants resulting in serious injuries. Militants opened fire on BJP district president, outside his shop near police station Bandipora at around 9 pm, cops had stated.
This is not the first incident, earlier a BJP sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday was shot dead by unidentified terrorists outside his residence at Vessu Gazigund area of Kulgam on Thursday.
