Ancient Shiva-Parvati idol unearthed during excavation work of house in Uttar Pradesh's Agra

The Shiva-Parvati idol was unearthed during the excavation work in village Kabulpur of Malpura area of Agra district on Sunday.

Agra: An ancient of Lord Shiva and Parvati, believed to be 400-year-old idol, was unearthed during excavation work of a house in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, officials said. The ancient idol was unearthed during the excavation work in village Kabulpur of Malpura area of the district for the construction of a villager's house. Local sources that during excavation work, a big stone collided with the bulldozer late on Sunday night.

When people went closer to remove the stone, it turned out to be the idol of Lord Shiva and Parvati, sources said. They said that the idol is said to be about 400 years old. As soon as the news about the unearthing of the Shiva-Parvati idol spread, locals started thronging the village since early hours of Monday to worship the Hindu deities.

A team of the Archaeological Department is also visiting the village to examine the idol. Locals said that the idol came up during the excavation work of Bhagwandas's son Dayaram's house going on in Kabulpur Gram Panchayat of Block Barauli Ahir. According to the villagers, the village Kabulpur used to be ruled by King Kalinga 500 years ago.

According to the villagers, the King had a lot of faith in Kalinga Puja. The villagers further claimed that Banganga used to flow by the side of the king's palace. The palace of King Kalinga is said to be still lying in ruins in village Kabulpur. Pertinently, a total of 251 silver coins and silver jewellery dating back to the British era were unearthed at village Vyaspura in Uttar Pradesh's in Mar. this year.
