Meerut: Ancient utensils, pots, bones and relics believed to be of the Mahabharta or Harappa age were discovered during a cleaning drive in the Pandav Tila in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, experts have said.

They said the site has never been excavated in the past.

Interestingly, different types of soil and remnants of coal have been found in a vessel. It is amazing to find such relics, according to the experts.

The find has been handed over to the Archaeological Department of Hastinapur (Meerut) and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been intimated about them.

In the past, ancient pottery was found near Karna temple. While the findings are rare, experts say it is not a very happy incident because the artefacts are now being discovered due to the erosion of soil.

Earlier, in the excavation in 1950-52, such pottery was discovered by Dr Bibi Lal. He found carved pottery with flower figures.

Locals say that if the government takes active measure for excavation in and around the Pandav Tila, more such articles could be found.
