Ayodhya: With the commencement of the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, The temple town is all set to be illuminated with lamps. The Yogi government is all set to organise fourth Deepotsav program, where eco-friendly earthen lamps will be lit to mark the occasion.
More than 70,000 families and various voluntary organizations from eight different states of the country came forward for the Deepotsav event and sent cow dung made eco-friendly earthen lamps to Ayodhya.
Ayodhya residents will illuminate the temple town by lighting 15 lakhs earthen lamps to set new Guinness world record.
On the occasion of Deepotsav this year six lakh Diyas will be lit in the famous Ram ki Paidi campus located along the Saryu coast in Ayodhya.
Municipal Commissioner Vishal Singh claims that about 5 lakh eco-friendly earthen lamps will be burnt in next year's Deepotsav.
He further said that with the cooperation of Sahkar Bharti and Municipal Corporation Ayodhya, women of self-help groups were trained in Basing Gaushala to make one lakh lamps by mixing cow dung and soil so that eco-friendly lamp could brighten the festival to dispel the dark.
The price of one lamp is Rs 1.15 per rupee. Along with this, women of self-help groups are also getting employment for their livelihood.
''These eco-friendly lamps are very special as after burning very soon it gets mixed in the soil. We are also training women. This year also along the banks of Saryu Coast, We are aiming to light at least one lakh eco-friendly lamps which are being sent from different states of the country to support this event,'' said Municipal Corporation Ayodhyanagar Commissioner Vishal Singh.
However, owing to the COVID-19 protocols the participation of people in Deepotsav will be very limited. This is the first time it will be virtually held on November 13, a day before Diwali.
