Kanpur: In a 'love jihad' case that has come to the fore in the Naubasta police station area in Kanpur, a Muslim youth allegedly forced a minor Hindu girl to convert to Islam on the pretext of love.
The alleged couple eloped and went to the boy's house in Babupurwa where the 13-year-old girl was forced to convert to Islam by the boy and his sister.
The victim told her mother about it following which a complaint was filed and the accused was sent to jail.
A complaint has also been filed against the accused's sister.

The Muslim boy used to work as a mason outside the house of the minor and during the course of his work he befriended the minor. They later fell in love and eloped.
In the past, more than a dozen cases of 'love jihad' have come to light in Kanpur. A gang of 'love jihadis' work from Lal Colony in the district where more than 6 such cases have been reported in the past.
The matter is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
