13 killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Uttar Pradesh

As many as 13 people lost their lives after being struck by lightning in various parts of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the concerned District Magistrates to provide Rs 4 lakh financial assistance to family members of those killed.

Lucknow: At least 13 people were killed in separate incidents of a lightning strike during rain and thunderstorm in Uttar Pradesh.

"In the incidents of lightning on Tuesday, four people were killed in Ghazipur, three in Kaushambi, two each in Kushinagar and Chitrakoot, one each in Jaunpur and Chandauli," Relief Commissioner Sanjay Goel said in a statement issued here.

Taking note of these incidents, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the concerned District Magistrates to provide Rs 4 lakh financial assistance to family members of those killed, he said.

He also said that due to floods, 28 villages of Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur and Azamgarh are affected.

Adityanath expressed his condolences for the people who lost their lives and has ordered that all the injured should get proper treatment.

It is to be noted that in June, as many as 24 people had lost their lives due to lightning in the state.
