Ghaziabad: For the last 121 years Ramleela is being performed at Ghaziabad's Ghantaghar where thousands of people throngs and celebrates the victory of good over evil.
This year Ramleela began on 23rd September and will end on 8th October when the effigy of Ravan will be burnt at night. Sulamal Ramleela Committee organises the celebrations every year with a lot of enthusiasm.
Committee's Director Veeru Baba spoke to ETV Bharat and said, "Former TV serial artists have joined our Ramleela this year and performed different characters of the epic saga."
"We have taken an initiative towards a greener environment. The use of plastic and polythene is banned here. Even the fireworks emitting less pollution were selected for the Dusshera celebrations," said Veeru.
Ramlila is being played out across the country, in villages and towns, in venues big and small, plush and makeshift.
The admiration for the mythological drama packed with action and emotions every year reaches a fervent crescendo on Dussehra when Ravana, the symbol of evil, goes down in flames.
