New Delhi: Telangana, India's youngest state in terms of its formation on 2014 will see its first ever general elections on April 11.

"All 17 constituencies across 31 districts are scheduled to go to polls in the first phase of the upcoming general elections. Among these constituencies, 3 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 2 for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and for the ease of voting a total of 34,603 polling stations have been set up across the State." said a statement issued by Election commission of India.
Some numbers about the state:
- Total number of electors: 2,95,30,838
- Electors (Men): 1,48,42,582
- Women: 1,46,74,217
- Third gender: 2,089
"In the state, there are 5,99,933 electors who are in the age group of 18-19 years, which is significantly higher than its sister State Andhra Pradesh that has5,39,804 electors in the same category." added the statement.
If the number of electors is to be combined in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the total number of electors has been increased by 1.94 percent since the previous general election - 2014 in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.
