Indian woman tricked with fake job offer in Oman

The family of a woman from Hyderabad has requested the help of Union Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jayashankar after the woman was tricked with a fake job offer in Muscat.

Hyderabad: Syeda Rafika Bano of Hyderabad has sent a letter to the Union Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jayashankar requesting him to save her sister from the captivity of the brokers in Muscat, Oman.

According to Rafika Bano, she and her sister, Kausar Bano, both worked in their beauty parlour, but due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown, their parlour was closed and they were out of a job. Fatima, an agent from Golconda, took Kausar Bano to Oman on the pretext of getting her a job. On reaching Muscat, the agent and her husband took away her passport and are forcing Kausar to marry an elderly man from Oman to earn money.

Rafika said that Fatima contacted Kauser Bano last month and asked her to go to Oman for a job opportunity. Kauser went to Muscat on the 8th of last month.

After reaching Muscat, Kausar is being pressurised to marry the elderly and disabled Arab. The victim's sister has now requested the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene in the matter and arrange for the release of her sister from captivity.
